How to play Pokémon GO the smart way

Since its initial release on July 6, 2016, Pokémon Go has generated more than $1 billion of revenue worldwide, according to Sensor Tower. You might be curious how Pokémon GO make money because there is no ads in the game. Well, it makes money via the in-app purchase. Like all the other mobile games with in-app purchase option, you can play and enjoy the game totally free, but if you want to level up and get strong quickly, then you will find that the in-app purchase is the your best option. This being said, however, there are some tricks that can help you to level up your Pokémon GO game quickly without paying a penny, I call it to “play Pokémon GO the smart way”.  Let me show you how to do it.

First of all, you need to remember that the trainer level in the game is very critical and you need to upgrade your trainer level as high as you can and as fast as you can. Your trainer’s level not only determines how strong your Pokémon can be, but also determines what eggs you can collect from Pokémon stops, and what Pokémon you can capture in the wild. For instance, a low level trainer will not be able to encounter a Pokémon with high CP in the wild. This makes sense, right? So when you play Pokémon GO, you need to focus on upgrading your trainer level quickly. The following tricks will help you accomplish this task:

1. Play Pokémon GO every day for the daily bonuses. Pokémon GO has two types of daily bonuses to attract players to play every day. The first is called First Catch of the Day. The first Pokémon you catch in a day will give you a bonus of 500 XP and 600 Stardust (you need Stardust to power up your Pokémon). And if you do this every day for 7 consecutive days, then on the 7th day, you will earn a bonus of 2500 XP and 3000 Stardust. The second type of bonus is called First PokéStop of the Day. The first PokéStop you visit in a day will give you a bonus of 500 XP and extra Poké Balls, potions, and/or other items. If you do this every day for 7 consecutive days, then on the 7th day, you will earn a bonus of 2500 XP and a lot more items. So if you only catch one Pokémon and visit one PokéStop each day, then you will earn at least this amount of XP for your trainer: 7 Pokémon * 100 XP/Pokémon caught + 500 XP/day * 6 days + 2500 XP + 500 XP daily visit * 6 + 2500 XP = 18,000 XP every 7 days. And I encourage you to catch more Pokémon each day if you want to level up quickly.

2. Do not ignore Pidge, Weedle, and Rattata. They are very common but might seem to be useless, but actually they can help you to upgrade your trainer quickly. So capture them whenever you see them and save them until the 7th day. I will show you later.

3. Use Great Balls to catch Pokémon with high CP, say above 200. You will have higher chance to capture them so it will save much time. If the Pokémon is not commonly seen in the wild, I would recommend you to use Razz Berry and Ultra Ball to capture it.

4. Use Luck Egg the smart way to double your XP. A Luck Egg lasts for 30 minutes and all XP you earn will be doubled during the 30-minute period. So the smart way to use your lucky egg is to wait before you collect your 7th daily bonus. Remember, you must follow the following steps to get the maximum XP.

a. Make sure you have played Pokémon GO for six days in a row.

b. On the 7th day, DO NOT catch Pokémon or collect items from PokéStop. You must first find a PokéStop, then use a Lucky Egg. Now collect items from the PokéStop, and you will get 5000 XP because of the Lucky Egg.

c. Just wait at the PokéStop to catch Pokémon. The first Pokémon caught will give you another 5000 XP due the Lucky Egg.

d. Evolve Pidge, Weedle, and Rattata that you have caught and saved in Step 2. Each evolve only needs 12 candies and gives you 500 XP, but with the Lucky Egg, you will earn 1000 XP. So the more Pokémon you can evolve during the 30-minute period, the more XP you can earn.

e. At the same time, catch as many Pokémon as you can because each one will give you 200 XP.

With good planning ahead, you can earn A LOT of XP for your trainer, then power up your Pokémon to fight in the PokéGym.

Where can you get Luck Eggs for free? The PokéStop will drop them, but very rarely. So you best option is to battle the PokéGym and assign your Pokémon to the PokéGym to earn free PokéCoins, then use PokéCoins to buy Luck Eggs.
